There are many chronic challenges and obstructions in accomplishing efficient sample preparation for molecular diagnostics testing. Because numerous, cumbersome steps are required, including extraction, purification and amplification of nucleic materials, much of the work has traditionally been accomplished by manual, or semi-automated methods. This approach necessarily requires an abundance of technical acumen and time. Moreover, the need to employ a number of independent, high priced tools, makes this process an expensive and potentially unreliable one.
